One of our members was in desperate need of help with an auto loan. Her car had died, she had limited income, and she was left stranded without it. She had found a new vehicle that suited her well; however, the price with the dealership would leave her 25% underwater on the used auto loan. While the dealer had pushed back saying most lenders would just write the loan, we knew this wasn't a good financial situation for our member, so our loan officer helped her renegotiate. The member ended up significantly saving on the price of the vehicle and avoided being critically underwater on her loan. Our loan officer then went the extra mile by picking up the stranded member from her home to sign loan papers and drop her off at the dealership to pick up her new car.
