Summary

Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, the Director of Retail Lending is responsible for leading the credit union's lending sales programs, including consumer, home equity, and mortgage. This role combines a focus on member experience, team member experience, growth and profitability of the lending portfolio, and compliance with credit union lending policies and procedures while ensuring sales, referral, and service activities align and create value for the member and the credit union. This position is responsible for meeting or exceeding sales goals through managing, coaching, mentoring, and training lending sales staff. They will be charged with keeping abreast of emerging trends and market dynamics.

The Director of Retail Lending will lead teams in consistently demonstrating and positively supporting Prospera Credit Union's Accountability Equation of Actions + Behaviors = You + Me and provide a member experience consistent with the credit union's mission, core values and guiding principles. This position requires a leader with a strong drive to deliver results, analytical and critical thinking skills, exceptional leadership ability, and proven history in lending sales and member service.

Expectations and Responsibilities

Team Development and Training:35%

  • Ensure the growth and development of team members in all areas of responsibility.
  • Complete weekly, biweekly, or monthly one on one with team members to connect, address concerns, performance, metrics, goals, etc.
  • Complete Performance Reviews and Individual Development Plans in a timely manner and on a regular basis, providing recommendations for staff growth and development.
  • Ensure continuous development and training of lending team members, enhancing the performance of team members involved in consumer, mortgage, and home equity lending through coaching, mentoring, and guidance.
  • Ensure collaboration between front line, lending, marketing, and other departments to align efforts and achieve shared goals, contributing to organizational efficiency and a seamless member experience.

Experience and Service: 35%

  • Maintain expert knowledge of financial products and services offered by the Credit Union.
  • Plan and structure staffing for optimal efficiency and performance in achieving sales, productivity, quality, and service standards.
  • Monitor and report on loan and ancillary sales and service goals.
  • Develop and recommend plans and strategies to meet the credit union's objectives for member experience, team member experience, access, and growth.

Sales and Growth: 20%

  • Develop and promote an enthusiastic sales culture centered around assessing member needs; positively motivating teams in cross-selling and member education activities to foster a fun, challenging environment to meet or exceed strategic objectives.
  • Stay current and informed on competitors, products, pricing, and promotions. Produce peer comparison reports as required.
  • Identify, research, and evaluate new lending programs for credit union members and make recommendations.
  • Develop and implement lending incentive programs.
  • Monitor and report on loan and ancillary sales and service goals.

Strategic Leadership: 10%

  • Leverage lending and product expertise, stay current on trends, and provide strategic input to new and existing marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in annual budget planning, projections, and growth projections.
  • Represent the credit union at events and in the community through professional networking groups, partnering with charitable organizations, volunteering, and attending civic events.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • 7+ years' experience in a financial institution lending sales or sales management role. Minimum of 5 years' consumer lending and people management experience.
  • 2+ years mortgage lending experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced practical knowledge of financial institution lending products, sales, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other leaders within the organization to develop and implement organizational strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with driving loan sales and portfolio growth.
  • Proven success in leading, directing, and developing teams and individual team members.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Standard benefits for this 40hr/week role include Health/Dental/Vision/401(k) Retirement with a 5% matching contributions.
