CUNA Awards represent the spirt of what credit unions are about and recognize outstanding achievements on an annual basis. This month, Altra Federal Credit Union (Altra) was awarded with three 2022 CUNA Awards for Wisconsin: the Dora Maxwell Award and the Youth and Adult Alphonse Desjardins Awards.
The Dora Maxwell Award - The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award recognizes the charitable work and external programs of credit unions that benefit local communities, including fundraising and volunteering. Altra received this award for its 90 Acts of Kindness in celebration of its 90th anniversary. This project was an all-encompassing, year-long process to engage members, non-members, and 100% of staff in the cooperative principle of concern for community through national days of celebration, donations, volunteerism, and sponsorships. This included member shred events, diaper drives, pet food donations, school supply donations, food pantry fundraising, and more.
The Youth and Adult Alphonse Desjardins Awards - The Alphonse Desjardins Financial Education Awards recognize outstanding involvement in financial education. Two separate awards recognize credit unions' efforts to financially educate youth and adults. Altra received the Youth award for its many partnerships promoting the importance of financial education, including its Altra Jr. app, launch of the Zogo app, its in-person and virtual instruction to over 10,000 youth, and its Banzai! teen platform which awarded two $5,000 financial education scholarships. It also received the Adult award for providing adults with financial educational opportunities, including videos, virtual presentations, social media outreach, and a regular podcast series.
Congratulations to Altra!
