On September 26-27, close to 50 credit union staff from around the state met in Oshkosh for the second Credit Union Connect--a "mini-Convention" featuring keynotes, breakout sessions, an expo hall, and plenty of time for networking.
At the event, Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca and Chief Economist John Koshkinen provided valuable insights on the Wisconsin economy and shared how Wisconsin's credit unions were 4th in the country in terms of their growth.
Other breakout sessions included timely topics like Surviving the Epic Funding Crisis and Supercharging Branch Traffic in a Digital World.
Attendees also had the chance to hear from special guest David Mancl, the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions Financial Literacy Director and the Executive Director of the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and Capability. He shared information on a variety of Wisconsin financial literacy programs including Wisconsin Saves, Edvest, Savi, Elevate Wisconsin, and Money Smart Week. He also expressed his support for Assembly Bill 109 that requires all students to have one semester of financial education before graduating high school.
Attendees shared that made "several quality contacts with vendors" and that the content was "eye-opening."
