Whether it's giving back, awarding scholarships, creating community, providing innovative solutions, or fostering financial literacy (and so much more), here's how Wisconsin's credit unions supported their members and communities in June.

 

Giving Back

 WESTconsin Credit Union to host summer food drive, observe dairy month
To help kids and other community members during summer vacation, WESTconsin Credit Union is hosting the School’s Out Summer Food Drive from June 3-15. All WESTconsin offices will collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations to be distributed to local food pantries and organizations across the credit union’s service area. Last year, WESTconsin collected 740 food items and raised more than $4,250. (WESTconsin Credit Union, 6/1)

Hunger doesn’t take summer vacation. Kids are often provided breakfast and lunch throughout the school year, so food banks face their greatest need for donations during the summer months. To help kids and other community members during summer vacation, WESTconsin Credit Union is hosting the School’s Out Summer Food Drive. June 3-15, all WESTconsin offices will collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations to be distributed to local food pantries and organizations across the credit union’s service area. Rhinelander 4th of July Parade receives community donations
The Rhinelander Kiwanis Club donated $900 to the 4th of July Parade. Rhinelander Kiwanis President Grace Nash presented the check to 4th of July Parade Chairman Dale Schlieve. The Kiwanis will be sponsoring the Rhinelander High School Band at the parade. Additionally, RIPCO Credit Union representative Nicole Brand presented a $500 check to Dale Schlieve. Rock the Riverfront Featuring the 30th Annual Charity Classic on Saturday, June 22nd
The Royal Credit Union Foundation Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic is celebrating 30 years of running and walking to support organizations that make a difference in the communities that Royal Credit Union serves. The Charity Classic starts in Phoenix Park and is made up of beautiful running routes along the Chippewa River. We offer a 10K and 2 mile walk/run and two youth races. We also offer virtual race options so people can run or walk whenever and wherever they would like! (Royal Credit Union, 6/17)

RCU Foundation announces $150,000 gift to Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation
The RCU Foundation made a $150,000 gift to the Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation in support the development of Market on River in downtown Chippewa Falls. The renovated multifunctional space will have a food court, housing, and community meeting rooms, as well as serving has the headquarters of the Wisconsin Farmers Union. The RCU Foundation’s gift will support the community meeting space and the technical equipment needed to provide a high-quality experience for the community. (Royal Credit Union, 6/18)

‘Rock the Riverfront’ event celebrates 30 years
Since 1994, the Royal Credit Union has raised more than $400,000 through their annual ‘Rock the Riverfront’ event. For the 30th year, three humane societies in the Chippewa Valley are receiving donations through a little friendly competition. Hundreds of runners braved the humidity while also raising money for a good cause. “This is the 30th annual ‘Rock the Riverfront’ featuring the charity classic, we are so excited to be hosting it here in downtown Eau Claire right here in Phoenix Park,” said Jennifer McHugh, the event director. MMCCU Staff Volunteer and Donate to Cattails Place in Marshfield
On June 19, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) staff members dedicated their time to volunteer at Cattails Place and presented a generous $1,000 donation to support the facility. This initiative embodies the credit union philosophy of giving back to the community. (Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, 6/20) 

Admirals Raise over $310,000 for Charity in 23-24
The Milwaukee Admirals are proud to announce that they have raised over $310,000 for charitable causes during the 2023-24 Season. "We are proud to be able to give back to the community in such a meaningful way," said Admirals President Jon Greenberg. "We are grateful to our amazing fans for showing their support for theses causes and we know that the impact that this money will have will be significant." (Landmark Credit Union, 6/25)

RCU announces winners of ‘Rock the Riverfront’ event
Royal Credit Union is announcing the winners of their annual “Rock the Riverfront” event. Royal Credit Union says it is donating $30,000, distributed among three different organizations. (Royal Credit Union, 6/25)

Interview: 50th year of Parade of Homes kicks off
The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association offers tours of 15 new and remodeled homes in the 50th year for the Parade of Homes.The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association’s Parade of Homes sponsored by Great American Fireplace is celebrating 50 years and will run June 8th through June 15th. Home hours are June 10-14 5pm – 9pm, June 15 10am-5pm. The remodeled homes are open for touring June 10. There are two ways that ticket holders can win prizes throughout the Parade of Homes. After visiting the Parade Homes, ticket holders can vote for their favorite in the Peoples’ Choice voting sponsored by Royal Credit Union. Anyone who casts their vote will have a chance to win one of four $100 cash prizes. While touring the Parade Homes, ticket holders are also encouraged to participate in a scavenger hunt sponsored by Kristy Thiess, Your Real Estate Guide, to find unique items in each home. 2024 Wisconsin State Fair: UW Credit Union partnership, new event
 Wisconsin State Fair officials announced Tusday, June 11 a multi-year partnership with UW Credit Union that celebrates the Cream Puff legacy for fairgoers of all ages.  According to a news release, UW Credit Union will be the title sponsor of the Cream Puff Lovin’ Celebration, which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Wisconsin State Fair, along with other exciting perks all summer long. Cedarburg Strawberry Festival celebrates 37th year this weekend
It’s that time of year again where Cedarburg welcomes thousands of people looking to enjoy the historic downtown and sweet, strawberry-focused food and beverages. The 37th annual Strawberry Festival, presented by Summit Credit Union, is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. This free, family-oriented festival draws up to 100,000 people over the weekend to enjoy live music, browse and purchase original artwork from hundreds of artists, and enjoy food — like strawberries — and beverages. Racine’s iconic 4th of July parade is back for the 88th time next Thursday. With the theme “American Treasures,” you can expect icons and monuments that make America special highlighted through the floats and units in this year’s parade. Shared Accounts With CU Times: Landmark CU Stands Up to Senior Fraud
On this episode of "Shared Accounts With CU Times," Melter shares what member experience means to him and why it's more important now than ever. We also recognize two recent and upcoming holidays in the world of financial services – National Senior Fraud Awareness Day (May 15) and National Financial Literacy Month (April) – by asking Melter how Landmark CU is tackling these important topics. He breaks down the "Four Ps" of senior fraud, discusses the role technology plays in fraud schemes and describes how his credit union is ensuring its oldest members don't become victims of fraud. Fort Community Credit Union Provides Financial Literacy Resources To Local Students
Fort Community Credit Union is bringing financial literacy education to over 9,180 students and residents in several Wisconsin counties. Students at 33 schools and the surrounding community have free access to Banzai, an award-winning online program and content library that allows users to practice real-world finance from the safety of their home or classroom using any internet-enabled device. Through the Banzai online courses, students try out managing a budget, saving for a goal, and dealing with unexpected financial pitfalls. Teachers are able to easily monitor and grade student progress remotely. Other resources, which include articles, calculators, and personalized coach sessions. (Fort Community Credit Union, 6/9)

 

Investing In Communities

UW Credit Union unveils new four-building corporate headquarters
UW Credit Union unveiled its new, four-building corporate headquarters on June 6 on Madison’s West Side. The new corporate headquarters, 8033 Excelsior Dr., bring together its lending services, Member Solutions Center and administrative office and spans 150,000 square feet featuring improvements to workspace and green infrastructure. The headquarters relocated from 3500 University Ave, which UW Credit Union occupied since 1995. (UW Credit Union, 6/10)

Landmark branch to open July 15
Landmark Credit Union has set the opening date for its new Oconomowoc branch as July 15. Located at 1391 Olympia Fields Drive, the Landmark Credit Union branch will be the debut site of the first Swiss-made, automated safe deposit box system in the United States. It also offers a 24/7 locker system, which allows safe, off-hours access to important documents. (Landmark Credit Union, 6/20)

Five Questions with Educators Credit Union
At Educators Credit Union, we’re celebrating over 85 years of helping members make financial decisions that are right for them! Park City Credit Union Celebrates A Strong Year At Annual Meeting
Park City Credit Union held its Annual Meeting in April 2024, celebrating a year of significant achievements and outlining future plans to enhance member services. This year‘s meeting revolved around the theme “Meeting You Where You Are,” focusing on the credit union’s commitment to serving its members‘ diverse needs. (Park City Credit Union, 6/21)
