Whether it's giving back, awarding scholarships, creating community, providing innovative solutions, or fostering financial literacy (and so much more), here's how Wisconsin's credit unions supported their members and communities in February.

 

Giving Back

WESTconsin Credit Union helping kids with 'Hearts of Hope' fundraiser
 During the month of February WESTconsin Credit Union is helping out children in need through a fundraiser. It's called Hearts of Hope, and it supports the Children's Miracle Network of Hospitals. The funds will be used for treatments at the Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul and CMN Hospitals at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Landmark Credit Union, Admirals partner to benefit Children's Wisconsin
Landmark Credit Union and the Milwaukee Admirals are partnering to support Children’s Wisconsin, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, through the annual Chain of Hearts campaign. (Landmark Credit Union, 2/12)

Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA launches program to assist those experiencing homelessness
People living at The Haven and Hope House in Manitowoc, two nonprofit organizations that provide shelter to people without homes, will now have free access to the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. The Rebuilding Lives program provides two months of free YMCA membership, followed by three months of steeply discounted membership to individuals facing housing insecurity. Help local young women and say “We gotcha girl” with the Green Bay Gamblers
The Green Bay Gamblers ask you to say, “We gotcha girl” at the game tomorrow night(2/14). In this segment, Jeff Mitchell from the Green Bay Gamblers and Lynn Hopfensperger from the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions discuss what items you can donate at the game and how this helps local young women in our community. Get paid back for shopping locally with Shoreline Hometown Credit Union
When can shopping locally pay you back? When it is the Shoreline Hometown Credit Union Hometown Program. In this segment, Kyle Bryntesen from Shoreline Hometown Credit Union discusses this program and why it is important to offer Medicare services in their branches. Shoreline Credit Union is located at 4400 Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc, and at 2354 East Mason Street in Green Bay. (Shoreline Credit Union, 2/21)

 

 

Creating Community

It's no mystery — 'Murder Mystery at the Library' will be an evening to remember
Step out of the cold and into an atmosphere of 1920s mystery and intrigue at the “Murder Mystery at the Library” fundraiser, presented by Fricke Printing Inc. On April 5, the Manitowoc Public Library will transform into a more glamorous setting, filled with fine food, drinks, music and drama. Tickets are $100 per person and include an interactive theatrical performance, heavy hors d’oeurves, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, live jazz music from Jon Mroz and his Bull Fiddle Band, raffle baskets, and valet parking — all at Manitowoc Public Library! Awarding Scholarships

Fort Community Credit Union to grant scholarships to local students
 Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced that they will be awarding $10,000in scholarship money for the 2024-25 school year. (Fort Community Credit Union, 2/6)

FCCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with locations in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Watertown and Whitewater. FCCU is offering this scholarship to help shoulder the cost of tuition so members can achieve their educational dreams. FCCU will award $2,000 to five current high school seniors heading off to a four-year university or a two-year technical or trade school in the fall. (Fort Community Credit Union, 2/6)

UnitedOne Credit Union Offering Scholarships to Area Students
A local financial institution is once again offering scholarships to area students. UnitedOne Credit Union has announced that they will be offering three $1,000 scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year. They will be awarding one scholarship to a current high school senior who resides in Manitowoc County, one to a senior who resides in Sheboygan County, and one to a current college student, non-traditional student, or working adult going back to school or who is pursuing further education. Fostering Excellence

Susan Breyer of Altra Federal Credit Union recognized for excellence by TruStage
Susan Breyer, a financial professional at Altra Financial Advisors located at Altra Federal Credit Union, has been appointed to the Senior Advisor Leadership Team (SALT) with TruStageTM. This distinction is awarded to a select number of financial professionals working through credit unions with TruStage who demonstrate a consultative approach with their clients, exceptional sales productivity and leadership within their credit union and among their peers. Chamber of Manitowoc County Honors the People and Organizations that Make Manitowoc Great
The Chamber of Manitowoc County has honored several businesses, non-profits, and people who were a major part of the community over the past year. The annual Awards of Distinction ceremony was held at the Capitol Civic Center Thursday night (February 13th), where eleven awards were handed out. (Kohler Credit Union, 2/13)

Park City Credit Union awarded five-star rating by BauerFinancial
 Park City Credit Union (PCCU) last week announced that it has been awarded a five-star rating from BauerFinancial, a leading independent financial rating agency since 1983. A release from PCCU said a five-star rating is “classified as Superior, indicating exceptional financial strength and security.” “BauerFinancial’s ratings are based on several factors, including capital ratios, asset quality and overall financial stability,” PCCU stated. “A five-star rating signifies that Park City Credit Union is well-capitalized and operating with strong financial health, providing members with confidence in the security and reliability of their financial institution.” (Park City Credit Union, 2/28)

Kohler Credit Union celebrates Chamber Awards
Kohler Credit Union (KCU) is proud to announce its recent recognition at three prestigious chamber awards events, highlighting the organization's commitment to community support, innovation, and growth. Kohler Credit Union was honored to be named the 2024 Large Business/Industry of the Year by the Chamber of Manitowoc County at their recent Awards of Distinction Ceremony. This award recognized a Manitowoc County business (26+ Employees) for its growth, success, innovation, and contribution to the community during 2024. (Kohler Credit Union, 2/28)

 

Investing in Communities

The extensive remodel of the Altra Federal Credit Union original branch on Losey Boulevard is finally done! They are holding a ribbon cutting on Thursday, February 6th to celebrate.  You are invited to the celebration at 2715 Lose Boulevard South on Thursday at 8:30 am. (Altra Federal Credit Union, 2/4)

WESTconsin Credit Union to host 85th Annual Membership Meeting
WESTconsin Credit Union will hold its 85th Annual Membership Meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 6 p.m. During the meeting, Board Chairperson Gerald Wolf will review the Board activities and highlights for 2024, and Chief Executive Officer Jim Wookey will review the year’s financial statement and annual report.
