I​n a recent survey, 80% of registered voters said Wisconsin credit unions should be exempt from state and federal corporate income taxes because they are non-profit cooperatives.

A diverse, equitable, and inclusive approach to serving our members and communities is built into the DNA of Wisconsin’s credit unions. From our very inception, we have been mission- and state statute-driven to “provide an opportunity for members to improve their economic and social conditions.”

During National Credit Union Youth Month in April, Wisconsin credit unions are helping young people navigate the world of money and finances. A great example is Educators Credit Union, which works with high schools in southeastern Wisconsin through an innovative program called Reality Check Days.

On April 15, Gov. Tony Evers honored eight individuals and five organizations as recipients of the 2020 Governor’s Financial Literacy Awards in a virtual ceremony. The recipients were honored for their efforts in helping Wisconsinites build their financial literacy and capability skills. 7 Rivers Region Chapter of Credit Unions, Royal Credit Union, Educators Credit Union, and Marine Credit Union Foundation were among the recipients.
