On Indigenous Peoples' Day, over thirty Wisconsin credit unions participated in the first-ever CU Community Day, a community outreach event showcasing the ways credit unions give back to their communities throughout the year.

This year marks the five year anniversary of this program in Wisconsin and the numbers speak to the success of this initiative. Wisconsinites have saved over $25.7 million, with an average saver's account balance of $1,629. Statewide winnings have exceeded $530,000 since 2018, with many credit unions choosing to award additional prizes to their own members. Prizes range from $100 to $5,000.

On September 26-27, close to 50 credit union staff from around the state met in Oshkosh for the second Credit Union Connect--a "mini-Convention" featuring keynotes, breakout sessions, an expo hall, and plenty of time for networking.

77 participants from three states were selected to participate in this year’s Tristate Mentor Match - a 12-month formal mentorship program developed in partnership by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, Montana’s Credit Unions and the Wisconsin Credit Union League. The program is designed to build, grow, and support professionals and inspire commitment to a career in the credit union movement. Now in its third year, the program is supporting its highest number of participants to date

On September 19-20, 45 credit union professionals joined us for another successful Financial Education & Community Development Workshop in Wausau!

Last week, nearly 40 Credit Union Activists from Wisconsin headed to Washington, D.C. for our annual Hike the Hill. Activists met with every office of the Wisconsin delegation and with the NCUA. CUNA also hosted legislative, political, and regulatory briefings.

“Til Death Do Us Part Inc.” realized that they needed to start doing board succession planning since they would likely be having a ton of turnover in the near future, because their board was getting older. What they didn’t realize was that their board leadership policy would cause another board member to leave earlier than they expected.

As part of their mission, Wisconsin's credit unions are committed to the wellbeing of their communities. In fact, in 2022 alone, credit unions across the state donated $9.5 million to charities, community projects, and civic groups, in addition to providing countless volunteer hours.

The man who led the World Council of Credit Unions’ project in Afghanistan and who later went into hiding before being captured and interrogated by the Taliban, is now in Pakistan with his family and hoping to restart his life with credit unions in Wisconsin.

On August 23 at University Ridge in Madison, over 70 golfers braved blazing temperatures to raise funds for The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation at the annual Foundation Invitational.

The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its Credit Union Development and The Difference Grants. In total, over $95,000 was awarded to six Wisconsin credit unions, allowing them to better serve their members and communities.
